Grandma Somehow Gets Stuck On A Floating Iceberg, Gets Rescued From Her ‘Ice Throne’

Grandma Somehow Gets Stuck On A Floating Iceberg, Gets Rescued From Her ‘Ice Throne’

Pensioners and senior citizens don’t always get to go on vacations and travel because of their health but when they do, they often know how to make it seem fun more than any young person. That can be accidental but they do appreciate travel a lot more, even when one of them drifted away into the deep water on a floating iceberg.

Catherine Streng’s dad and grandmother are cool old people. Streng works as a teacher in South Korea while her family lives in her hometown in Texas, US. One day, Streng’s dad and grandma decided to go on a vacation in Iceland, in Jökulsárlón Lagoon to be exact. The place is known for its stunning glacial lagoons, something Streng’s dad wanted her to see.

Turns out, Streng’s grandmother found the vacation a lot more fun and thrilling than usual as her grandma somehow managed to grab herself an ice throne in the form of a floating iceberg. Streng’s dad retells of her grandmother’s escapades, complete with pictures and a picturesque account of the tale:

“She ascended the throne after a wave had pulled back and left it briefly exposed on the beach. Then a wave washed in and dislodged the ice throne, rocking it from side to side. When the wave retreated, it lifted the dislodged throne and carried her out with the tide,” recalled Streng’s dad. Note that he referred to the floating iceberg as a throne. There’s no other way to call it.

Luckily for the Iceberg Queen, there was a nearby man named Randy Lacount who was also a licensed boat captain. The captain was able to rescue Streng’s grandmother before she drifted off into her ice kingdom. Streng was in tears from all the laughter, of course, “That’s just so something that would happen to my family.”
